Considered a whole grain, brown rice is less processed than white rice, which has had its hull, bran and germ removed. Brown rice only has the hull (a hard protective covering) removed, leaving the nutrient-packed bran and germ. Belongs to a group of foods commonly called pseudocereals. Buckwheat is not related to wheat and is thus gluten-free. Good source of fiber, manganese, copper, magnesium, iron, phosphorus.
