Palm oil comes from the fleshy fruit of oil palms. It is semi-solid at room temperature and its melting point is 95°F. It is sometimes added to peanut butter and other nut butters as a stabilizer. The fruit is grown according to organic standards without the use of chemicals or pesticides.
A weak organic acid that has the chemical formula C6H8O7. It occurs naturally in citrus fruits. Lemons and limes have particularly high concentrations of the acid; because it is one of the stronger edible acids, the dominant use of citric acid is as a flavoring and preservative in food and beverages, especially soft drinks and candies.
Vibrant in colour and sweet to the taste, carrot juice concentrate is a popular smoothie and juice drink ingredient that blends beautifully with a range of other fruits and vegetables. Carrot concentrate is made by heating the carrot’s natural juices to remove a proportion of the water content. The resultant mixture is significantly stronger than an NFC carrot juice, but also smaller in volume – making it easier for producers to transport.
Blackcurrants have a high concentration of anthocyanins, polyphenolic substances, antioxidants, vitamin C, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Blackcurrant extracts are shown to reduce risk factors for metabolic conditions such as type 1 and 2 diabetes.
